Recommendations

It is recommended that :

(i)

(ii)

Policy should continue on the present lines, the status quo being maintained until clearance of the undisputed areas has been completed and for a period of 5 years up to 1974;

After a period of approximately 2 years planning should be undertaken to determine policy and action at the end of the 5-year period;

(iii) The only exception to the status quo should

be in respect of fire risk to schools in the Walled City and in the context of a campaign against unregistered schools, a problem which should be examined by the Schools Steering Committee.

(iv) If building collapse should arise or

(v)

become immediately imminent, an immediate review of the factors relating to preventive and remedial action should take place;

Resettlement Department should take action to contain illegal structures in the Tung Tsing Road area;

(vi) The Ad Hoc Committee should not be

re-established but Departments should be made aware of the policy decisions arising out of these recommendations.
