I refer to your letter of the 15th instant on the above subject. If you will refer again to the Chief Justice's letter of the 20th October, I think you will see that your description of its contents is not accurate.
Government seeking
An approach was made to Government authority for the expenditure of public funds on the employ- ment of Mr. Rear for this project, but, before a decision could be obtained from those responsible for authorising this expenditure, Mr. Rear withdrew his offer to index the Reports for the years 1905 to 1964.
