The Governor of Hong Kong, Sir David Trench, is at
present on leave in this country. He is due to return
to Hong Kong on 12 December. 个
2. The Secretary of State saw Sir David in October
1968 during the latter's previous spell of leave and I
recommend that he should again do so on this occasion.
It is understood that the Secretary of State will be
free during the afternoon of Wednesday, 26 November, and
a provisional appointment for him to see Sir David has
accordingly been made for 4.00 p.m. on that day.
3. It is not possible to say at this stage whether
matters there will be any specific subjecte for the Secretary
