Addressed to Commonwealth Office telegram No. 24 of 20 January.

Repeated for information to: Kuala Lumpur, Canberra, Wellington, Governor Hong Kong

Kuala Lumpur telegram No. 49:

Secretary of State's Tour.

It now seems as though the proposed itinerary is likely to be:

Thursday evening 2 March.

Arrive Singapore from Hong Kong.

Sunday morning 5 March. Leave for Kuala Lumpur on plane at

8.45 a.m. This would mean that the Secretary of State would spend Friday and Saturday in Singapore and practically all Sunday and Monday in Kuala Lumpur.

2.

Singapore Government have agreed these revised timings at the official level. I understand that Sir Michael Walker has ascertained that this would probably be the most suitable arrangement for Malaysian Government but is awaiting confirmation.

Commonwealth Office please pass Canberra 2, Wellington 1, Governor Hong Kong 3.

Mr. Rob
