International Trade Unions
and Hong Kong
The British T.U.C. have received representations from the ICFTU about a suggestion that a delegation should visit the Commonwealth Office to talk about the labour and trade union situation in Hong Kong. The ICFTU would like to draw in also representatives of one or more of the International Trade Secretariats (e.g. the ITGWF).
2. I told Mr. Barritt, who raised the matter with me that if an official request was put to us from the T.U.C., I saw no difficulty in a delegation being received. I could not
of course give any indication of the level at which the delegation would be received until I knew more about those who would participate in it and the form of the request.
