Dear Sir Arthur,

Many thanks for your letter of 19/7/67, and the most interesting enclosures. If it is not too great an inconvenience would it be possible to copy the figures for insertion

in the proforma of H.K.'s enclosure II to me? I note from those for 17/7/67 that the daily consumption for the

week was 73 m.g.d. & must have included at least part of a 4 hour alternate day's supply, for I note with satisfaction that their estimate of a 4 hour in 4 day supply of 45 m.g.d. agrees with mine. I also note that they have mentioned the River

and Plover Cove as prospective sources of bettering the position, and no doubt will not have lost sight of the Mukavu Wells on the border, though they have not mentioned them in particular. It is with relief that I see that they are already up to 59% of the 9,500 M.G. Sept. target, and I think we have reason to hope that the expensive tanker operation will not be necessary, to maintain the 4 in 4 supply until the

of '68. I am enclosing a copy of a memo from the Director of the Royal Observatory to the Director of Water Supplies which I have lately received from our Consultants, Messrs.

and Partners. This seems to confirm para. 5

of H.K.'s Savingram 1334.

When we met in London I promised to let you know when my wife is to be admitted to the Royal Masonic Hospital. The Secretary has now informed me that this will be on the 29th Aug. so that they can carry out certain preliminaries pending the return of Sir Clifford Naunton Morgan from his annual leave.

Yours sincerely,

(Sgd.) E. Wilmot Morgan
