Mrs. L.M.Jeger, MP.
. 10.
3rd November, 1967.
Firms in the same business commencing operations after us, do not appear to have had such setbacks, and we understand from representatives of firms in the U. K. that they have submitted fixed term contracts and received attestation.
We have cases of many contracts being returned marked as 'not acceptable,' on one occasion alteration was required over a difference in the placing of an apostrophe.
The I. L. O. consider domestics as non-manual workers and in the Conventions quoted provision is made for their exemption, although in the interpretation of the Ordinance the term 'manual worker' includes personal and domestic servants.
During the long period that has elapsed there has been no attempt to answer any letters. The present 'reply' made not the slightest attempt to answer the point we requested you to raise ten months ago, instead we are subjected to a further series of thread- bare irrelevancies.
I consider that the entire affair now calls for a thorough investigation, and will be grateful if you will inform me of the action you intend to take.
Yours sincerely,
ORIENTAL DOMESTICS (London) LTD.
