I am writing to you in accordance with the normal drill that the Whips ask us to follow to let you know that I shall be going to Hong Kong the week after next, arriving at the airport at 4 p.m. Hong Kong time on Wednesday, the 22nd May.
I am writing to your personally because my visit there is for the purposes of the litigation the possibility of which I referred to in my previous letter to you of the 2nd March. Unfortunately, in spite of a moment at which it appeared that negotiations might be opened, this has not happened and my clients feel bound to start proceedings to try to protect their interests.
As the defendants against whom I am appearing include the Governor amongst others (though in his capacity as a member of the Legislative Council only) the usual kinds of exchange of courtesies which take place may be a little difficult, but I thought I should let you know that I am going.
Incidentally my address when there will be at the
Mandarin Hotel.
