WE ACCUSEK

"The British Government and the British authorities in Hongkong will never succeed in denying this.'

-People's Daily, Peking

ཎྜ་

On May 22, 1967, atrocities were perpe- trated by the Hongkong British authorities both in the Garden Road in Hongkong and in south Kowloon. On the island side, hun- dreds of police beat up a small number of unarmed Chinese who were there to pro- test to the Hongkong British authorities against their previous persecutions.

This man was not being helped to the hospital, but to be pushed into a gaol run by the British colonialists.

A correspondent of the Economic Re- porter, Mr Hui Wen-ching (right) was bleeding pro- fusely outside Hil- ton Hotel with two other victims. Mr Hui was there to cover the demon- stration for his journal, but was beaten up and hand- cuffed to another victim. This is the Freedom of Press' in this self-styled 'Show window of Democracy'.

Wounded but un- cowed, he pointed

at the 'Riot Police' and asked where is justice.
