There is a possibility of serious embarrassment arising in the near future over this case. Patrick Jenkin, M.P. continues to press the Minister for further information in support of ministerial view, expressed to him in letter of 6 June, 1968, that there are no grounds for intervention in the matter. He has threatened to involve the press unless further information is forthcoming.
2. We are proposing to suggest to the Minister that he should see Jenkin one day next week and discuss the matter with him on an entirely confidential basis (a suggestion made by Jenkin himself who has been told that security considerations are involved). We propose to advise the Minister when seeing Jenkin
to tell him :
