Thank you for your letter (SCR.1/4841/55) of 16 May giving the L.I.C.'s comments on paragraph 3 of the Commonwealth Secretary's despatch of the 16th of April.
Those who advised us on that section of the despatch agree that there can be more than one view on this matter. But while not totally ruling out a further wave of radicalism, they take the view that this is improbable.
I think you will agree that it is sufficient for these differing views on the future course of events in China to have been placed on the records in this correspondence.
