Thank you for your letter of 13
September about reinforcing Hong Kong for the "Double Tenth".
2. We entirely agree with the Chiefs of Staff Committee's appreciation of the present position (which the Acting Governor has endorsed) and accept that it should not be necessary to reinforce Hong Kong during the period in question unless the
situation deteriorates there in the mean- time.
3. I am sending a copy of this letter to Jack Rennie in the Foreign Office.
