new albanian coking plant put into operation

tirana, november twentyninth Chsinhua) a newly built coking plant in stalin city, one of the targets in the 4th five-year plan, was put into operation yesterday and an inauguration ceremony was held on the same day, when the whole of albania was celebrating the 55th anniversary of independence and the 23rd anniversary of the liberation of the country.

this is another outstanding achievement of the albanian working class, under the Leadership of the albanian party of labour, who are carrying out a campaign of revolutionization in the life of the state and in men's ideology, and are implementing the principle of self-reliance to build socialism.

h. toska, member of the political bureau of the central committee of the a.p.l. and vice-chairman of the council of ministers, was present on the occasion to cut the ribbon for the plant.

to smash the economic blockade imposed on albania by imperialism and revisionism, the workers of the stalin oil processing combine suggested after the party's 5th congress that a pitch coking plant be completed within 6 months. there were indeed many difficulties in accomplishing this project in such a short space of time/ the designing alone of a factory like this usually takes one to three years. however, thanks to the workers' proposal of relying on the masses and working while designing, the plant was completed in a remarkably short time, just on the eve of the national holidays. this is another victory of the albanian working class in bringing into full play their fervent revolutionary enthusiasm and firmly adhering to the principle of self-reliance.

persecution of chinese patriotic education stepped

up in hongkong

nongkong, november thirtieth Chsinhua) the fascist hongkong british authorities launched a fresh onslaught on chinese patriotic education when they sent troops and police to close down the chung hwa middle school and raid four other chinese patriotic schools on november twentyeighth.

these premeditated acts of suppression reveal the extent to which the british authorities fear the surging anti-imperialist patriotic student movement.

of late, the british authorities have been sending Large numbers of armed troops, policemen and plainclothesmen to search, beat up and kidnap patriotic chinese students in the streets, and carry out armed attacks on the chung yeh institute and the snaukiwan workers' children's school.

j.p. mcgregor, assistant director of commerce and industry, has recently clamoured for the closing and taking over of patriotic chinese schools.

at about nine o'clock on the evening of november twentyseventh, a large number of troops and police broke into the chung hwa middle

school and carried out wanton damage. they cruelly beat up and kidnapped six of the teachers, students and administrative staff.

the next afternoon, a high-ranking official came to the school with an escort of armed police. in a blustering manner he delivered to the school authorities a "closure order" signed by the "director of education", and proclaimed the school closed until august fifteenth next year.

huang tsu-fen, the headmaster, threw the "closure order* back at the official. he solemnly declared, hongkong is chinese territory. the study and propagation of mao tse-tung's thought and the running of patriotic educational institutes are our inalienable right which absolutely permits no encroachment. the rhung hwa middle school will remain open".

the official left in a panic midst angry protests and condemnation from the teachers and students.

soon afterwards, the british authorities again dispatched policemen to the school to close the school by force. they smashed windows and broke down doors and put the school under

guard.
