We have been asked by the press today whether

Hong Kong Government has been asked by Macao or the Portuguese authorities to provide assistance of any sort in the event of the evacuation of Macao, and if so what the requests were.

We are replying "The Hong Kong Government is naturally following the situation in Macao with care, but it is not in a position to comment further at this time. A number of persons have entered Hong Kong from Macao in the last day or two under normal travel arrangements".
