Governorship of Hong Kong

In your letter of 24 June to Williams in the Commonwealth Office, you intimated that, if the Foreign Secretary agreed, the Prime Minister was content with the Common- wealth Secretary's recommendation that the term of office of Sir David Trench as Governor of Hong Kong should be extended for a year, namely until April, 1970.

The Foreign Secretary fully agrees with the recommendation of the Commonwealth Secretary.
