VIBRATORS
Heavy-duty external vibrators for consolidating large masses of concrete have been introduced by Stow Manu- facturing Co., 627 Shear Street, Bing- hampton, New York.
Called XHD units, they are power- ed by a totally enclosed motor, allow-

ing them to be used inside and outside in all conditions. The units operate at 3,450 r.p.m. and have adjustable ec- centrics to suit the applications. A total of five different units is available, with impacts ranging from 110 to 3,500 lb.
The XHD can be attached to any form or bin through the use of inex- pensive brackets.
LOADER
A new 745H wheel loader, design- ed for fast-cycle, heavy-duty loading assignments, has been added to the line of Allis-Chalmers construction machinery.
When equipped with a 41⁄2 cu.yd. bucket, the machine has an operating weight of 39,580 lb. Straight ahead tipping load is 30,920 lb., and at full
hydraulic excavator now made.
Ground pressure with 34 in. tracks is 21 p.s.i., travel speed is 0 to 1 m.p.h. in forward or reverse and the machine will take grades of up to 43 per cent.
The high pressure hydraulic circuit includes three reservoirs, six pumps and two selector blocks in series, al- lowing backfeeding, and controlling working and drive movements. Hy- draulic oil is kept at the ideal tempera- ture by three air draught oil coolers.
The heavy-duty carbodies support-
45-degree articulation, tipping load is ing the tracks can be removed for 25,000 lb.
Heavy-duty hydraulics provide the 745H with a breakout force of 31,000 lb. A gear type, tandem mounted pump delivers 94 g.p.m. at governed engine speed.
The unit has a wheelbase of 130 in. and tread width of 84 in. It can be equipped with general purpose buckets of 3 to 5 cu.yd. or 31⁄21⁄2 cu.yd. multi- purpose and rock buckets. A four- cycle diesel (240 maximum h.p. and 202 net flywheel h.p.) powers the unit through an automatic crowd twin- turbine design torque converter with 4.7:1 torque increase at full stall.
The power shift, planetary stand- ard transmission has four forward and two reverse speeds, while an optional transmission provides four forward and four reverse speeds.
Overall length of the loader with bucket at 14 in. carry height is 24 ft. 2-5/8 in. Reach at 7 ft. carry height is 6 ft. 5 in. and bucket width is 9 ft. 7 in.
The makers are Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing Co., P.O. Box 512, Milwaukee, Wis., USA.
EXCAVATOR
An eight-cylinder, water-cooled diesel with an SAE horsepower of 840 at 2,100 г.p.m. powers the new Po- clain EC 1000 excavator. It is a 140-ton, fully hydraulic 5 cu.yd. machine, claimed to be the largest
transportation. Each track, comprising 51 triple ribbed pads, is driven by high torque hydraulic motor through plane- tary reduction gears,
A 31 ft. 6 in, monobloc boom and a 14 ft. 9 in. stick with a 4 to 6% cu.yd. bucket make up the backhoe attachment. Highest outputs on loader are obtained with a 5 to 61⁄2 cu.yd. bucket for quarry work, or 61⁄2 to 10%1⁄2 cu.yd. bucket for bulk earthmoving, all mounted on an 18 ft. main boom and 18 ft, stick.

CONVEYOR
A variable length conveyor pro- duced by J.P. Udal Ltd., Interlock Works, Court Road, Birmingham 12, UK, can be quickly relocated and re- positioned to meet different require-
ments.
The length of the conveyor can be changed without affecting the belt tracking. Adjustment of the conveyor beam is by manual operation through a rack and pinion gearing assembly. Height and angle variation are achieved by operation of a hydraulic pump unit mounted on the conveyor base frame. A system of one-way valves and stops ensure the conveyor remains stable once positioned.
