and each pair acts as a simple double- sided rule when inserted into the main frame. When the fascia panels are re- versed however, the two strips in each rule can be rearranged so that the scales on the outside continue to cor- respond to those showing on the fascia panels.

Matching numbers on the fascia and sliding scales facilitate the correct pairing off. A cursor marking at the end of each scale enables the user to select the unit for conversion against the scale on the fascia, and a vertical window on the right-hand side of each fascia scale shows the required conver- sion or conversions.

Model A (illustrated) deals with length and area, while Model B con- tains conversions for volume, mass, capacity, temperature, pressure and consumption.
