Rich decor of

A modern trend in designing the public rooms of a hotel is to select a theme such as a flower or a historic place name and develop this fundamental in the decor. These pictures show the imagina- tive theme variations produced by the architects for Asia's new hotels.

1. A corner of the Mandarin Chinese restaurant in the Shera- ton, Manila.

2. The Rajah Room for con- tinental dining in Hotel Malaysia. Fixed decor is by architects, Al- fred H. K. Wong Partnership. Lamps and loose fittings by Paci- fic House.

3. A private dining room in the Manila Hilton. Walls are clad in narra panelling; light fittings are of capiz shell.

4. The Golden Lotus Room of the Hotel Malaysia. Dimmers are fitted to alter the lighting level. 5. Coral Ballroom of the Manila Hilton.
