Conclusion
Many staff members of the Public Works Department have attended courses on computer familiarisation and on programming and there is con- siderable awareness in the Department of the advantages to be gained by using computers.
In addition to the sub-departments already mentioned, studies have been made of the work of the Structural Engineering Division of Architectural Office and Crown Lands and Survey Office, and many possible applications of computers are under consideration. There is little doubt that as time pro- gresses, more and more use will be made of computers, not only on so- phisticated studies and designs but also in the routine day to day operations of the department.

This feature (Parts I and II) contains contributions prepared by staff of
Computer room in the Consultants' London offices, showing in the background a teletype Scott Wilson Kirkpatrick & Partners; terminal and a desk-top computer in the foreground
period. Also the data for all the con- tracts can be consolidated on a separ- ate print-out.
In this way expenditure control by computer has been applied to all ap- propriate contracts in the Roads and
Drainage (Hong Kong) Division since the start of the current financial year. If this exercise proves to be successful, it is likely that the method will be adopted on a wider basis in the Civil Engineering Office.

see Like their colleagues in the Prestex range, these new fittings are made in a special way. And there's only one firm in the world that makes taps like this. Peglers. That's us. Peglers of Doncaster. What's our secret? It could be that we take more care over brass foundry than anyone else. Or that we chromium plate to almost twice the British Standards. Or perhaps that
we're one of the largest makers of plumbing fittings in
the world - and our techniques are as modern as our
designs. Whatever it is, it enables us to make fine taps at ordinary prices. Rather than tell you our secrets, we'll sell you our fittings, and you get priority on delivery too. Just let us know you're interested-soon.
