SUNTORY, producers of liquors and beer, are to erect a 20-metre tall building that looks like a huge piece of bamboo which has been cut off obliquely,
The building will be clad in a pattern of golden barrels on its outer wall. In the front half of the building In the front half of the building there will be no floors up to the fifth storey to provide an uninterrupted exhibition zone. The rear half will be used as a showroom for motion pictures.
Mitsubishi
NOT yet designed in any detail, the Mitsubishi pavilion will be a statuesque edifice to represent the theme: "The Nature of Japan and the Dreams of Japanese People". A budget of US$5.5 million and a site of 9,600 sq. metres have been allocated for the project. The presentations will show the sky, the sea and the land of Japan, five years hence.
Kubota
THE Kubota pavilion will consist of an umbrella like memorial mono- pole tower, measuring 40 metres in diameter and built from G columns manufactured by Kubota Iron and Machinery Works. Lower buildings will be of concrete blocks.
Theme of the pavilion is "The Blessings of Water and Rice". Within the building the themes of the four seasons of Japan, genealogy of rice plants and farming techniques of to- morrow will be expressed in various ways.
Iron & Steel
THE Iron and Steel pavilion_pro- posed by member firms of the Japan Iron and Steel Federation will, ac- cording to the developers, incorporate an acoustic system of the highest conceivable level.
"Consonance of Iron" is the theme of this pavilion, whose exhibits will be organised mainly on sounds. The box-shaped building measures 46 metres on each side and is 25 metres high.
