Mitsui

THE 33-firm Mitsui Group has taken as its theme "Creative Para- dise". The shape of the pavilion is beyond description but closely resem- bles a giant snail.

The part of the pavilion which corresponds to the tower is designed to perform continuous, dynamic movement in the air for transporting visitors into a 30-metre central dome.

A large section of the dome opens towards the exterior to provide a more flexible and spacious layout for the building itself. Part of the build- ing moves over the building site which covers 9,600 sq. metres.

Textiles

THE image of a skirt will be sym- bolised by the pavilion of the Co- operative Association for Japan Tex- tiles. By the liberal use of textiles both externally and internally, the aim is to create a colourful and soft atmosphere.

Internally, quality textiles will cover every section

floors, ceilings and walls. The site area for the pavilion is 5.500 sq. metres,
