VIBRATING ROLLERS
Two vibrating rollers have been introduced by Wilhelm Weller GmbH, 4000 Dusseldorf-Nord, Theodorstrasse 69-102, Germany a pedestrain-con- trolled model and a heavy towed machine weighing 12.5 tons.
--
Measuring 3 m. long by 1.035 m. wide by 1.26 m. high, the WDW 140 is powered by a Hatz ES9 diesel de- veloping 12 h.p. It embodies two rollers, cach 850 mm. wide by 550 mm. in diameter, and can be driven close alongside obstacles of up to 300 mm. in height on its right-hand side.
The machine travels at two speeds of 1 and 2 k.p.h. and provides vibration frequencies of 2,000 and 3,100 v.p.m. A control bar mounted at the rear is adjustable in height and can be re- moved if necessary, while the 14-litre fuel tank and double-compartment, 100-litre water reservoir permit pro- longed and economic working.
The second machine, the 12.5-ton WVW 1250 operates with either smooth-wheel or sheepsfoot rollers, at recommended speeds of at least 1.8 and 2.5 k.p.h. respectively.
Overall dimensions of this roller are 5.9 m. long by 2.5 m. wide by 2.1 m. high. The single roll itself mea-

sures 2.08 m. wide by 1.83 m. in diameter. Powered by a six-cylinder Deutz diesel that develops 96 h.p., it
provides a vibrating frequency of 1,800 v.p.m. Control is effected through a cable connected to the driver's cab of the towing vehicle.
ROTO-TROWEL
Stow Manufacturing Co., 627 Shear Street, Binghampton, New York, USA, are marketing a new three-bladed 36in. diameter trowelling machine, supplied with one set of finish and one set of float blades.
Designated the 36G431, the 4 h.p. machine has a sliding sleeve clutch

which stops the blade the instant the operator releases the handle. This en- ables the unit to be started in any throttle position. A standard guard ring allows the operator to work right up to walls and other obstacles with safety.
A handle-mounted blade pitch con- trol knob allows the operator to adjust instantly the pitch of the blades while the machine is in operation.

EXCAVATOR
-
All operations, including the move- ment of the grab and the selection of the operating speeds, are controlled by two hand levers and two foot pedals on a new 1 1 cu.
yd. hydraulic excavator called the 30H Hydrohoe. In its standard hoe form the machine has a digging depth of 23ft. 6in. (7,16 m) and a radius of 36ft. 3in. (11,05 m). An alternative handle can be fitted for

excavator.

HAMMER DRILL
Although capable of drilling holes in concrete up to 1 in. (25 mm.) in diameter with a solid bit or 2 in. (51) mm.) with a core bit, the Phixomat rotary hammer drill is particularly re- commended for use with small-size fixings. Removing four screws from the hammer head enables the machine to operate without hammering, drilling holes up to in. (19 mm.) in steel.
Power for the hammer head is sup- plied by a heavy-duty 450-w. universal motor which runs off either 110- or 240-v. current. Designed to detach easily from the motor-drive unit after three Allen screws have been loosened, the hammer-head section can be re- paired on site without difficulty or, if necessary, exchanged for a spare head. It contains only eight func- tioning parts of which the most heavily utilised the toothed nylon rings which produce the hammering action -- are said to last for at least 300 drilling hours.
-
Under full load, the drill rotates at a speed of 500 r.p.m. and produces hammer blows at a rate of 2,300 per min. While hammering, the user need not apply any pressure to the machine as it operates efficiently under its own force. Drilling times in 8,000lb. (3,629-
