ROLLER
The Davleco 32in. tandem edge roller can work flush with kerbs and walls, carrying compaction of materials right up to a building line.
The operator's driving position is so arranged that he has a full view of his edgeroll and his work. The steering

roll allows up to 15-degree steer. Other features include: heavy duty drum type brakes hand operated for park- ing; in-built 15-gallon water tank with spray bars to both rolls; lock-up tool box; and low centre of gravity for stability on grades and crossfalls.
Introduced by Davelco Industries, Ltd., Settlement Road, Bundooran, Victoria, Aust., the roller is available
with choice of either a Lister SR1 diesel engine, a Honda GD90 twin- cylinder diesel or a Wisconsin AENLD petrol engine.
BITUMEN PROCESS
A new foaming process for bitu- men gives the material an increased surface tension and a greater ability to coat aggregates.
Foamed bitumen is obtained by adding wet steam to hot unfluxed bitu- men through a specially designed nozzle. Portable plants, enable the de- velopers, Bituminous Pavements Pty. Ltd., Greystanes Road, Wentworth- ville, NSW, Australia, to offer their services as contractors overseas.
The combined mixing plant and paver which is used can travel between work sites under its own power. It can then mix and pave in one continuous operation while providing close con- trol over the quality and uniformity of the completed pavement.
Cold wet aggregates may be used and the method is said to be ideal for bitumen stabilisation of deficient gra- vels and fine crushed rock.
DUMP TRUCK
Floor and front walls of the new 65C Payhauler rear-dump truck are constructed of half-inch thick, 100,000 p.s.i. steel. The syspension system of the 22-ton off-highway vehicle incor- porates free-floating, semi-elliptic springs.
The power unit is a four-cycle, tur-
bocharged diesel developing 242 f.w.h.p. at a governed speed of 2,500 r.p.m. Manual-shift or power-shift transmissions are available; both are constant-mesh types and both offer nine forward speeds up to 34.1 m.p.h.
The truck carries most of its pay- load between the 12ft. 4in. wheelbase. The body measures 9ft. 10in. wide inside and 14ft. lin. long inside. Load- ing height is only 9ft. 11⁄2 in. A single three-stage hydraulic cylinder raises the body to a 65-degree dump angle in 12.1 seconds.
A short wheelbase and hydraulic power steering allow the Payhauler to make a full-circle turn in 56%1⁄2 ft. Pay- load is 44,000 lb. and the heaped capacity 19.6 cu.yd.
The operator's cab features a fully adjustable bucket seat, adjustable air vents, shatter proof glass all-round, and a rubber-mounted instrument panel. The front lip of the steel body com- pletely covers the roof of the cab.
International Harvester Export Co., 401 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, III., USA, are the makers.
GRADER
Introduction of an automated pre- cision grader, the Autoblade, is an- nounced by CMI Corporation, Oklahoma City, USA. It can be con- trolled in alignment and profile from a single reference line or an existing profile grade so that tolerances do not depend on the grader operator's in- dividual techniques.
The machine is one of the largest made. It is of an articulated design with a diesel engine on each end. This gives the 66,000 lb. machine a total of 450 h.p. It operates with equal effici- ency in either direction.
Eight hydraulically powered driving wheels, arranged in dual pairs on walk- ing beams, provide twice the tractive effort of large four-wheel-drive motor graders.
The operator's cab, including the control console, and the work head to
