depth of field from about 5mm to infinity. The instrument is 5mm in diameter and 300 mm (12 in.) long.
Ground level views not possible with the naked eye are attainable and may be filmed by the attachment of an adapter lens to a 35mm reflex camera or an 8mm motion picture
camera.
The tool is marketed by HCI Sales Corporation, 145 East 16th Street, New York, USA.
EMERGENCY LIGHTING
Requirements for a 24-v. emer- gency power supply, with a capacity of 12-15 lights or up to 25 exit signs, are met by the Secundalux Cadet unit. This device contains four fully-absorb- ed-electrolyte lead-acid 6-v. batteries, with a 30-ah. capacity, of the long-life silver-lead type, kept operative by a constant-potential charger with an automatic charging control.
Housed in a ventilated steel case, finished in a gilt-bronze hammered

stoved enamel and raised above ground level by four integral legs, the Cadet measures 3 ft. 3 in. high by 1 ft. 4 in. wide by 1 ft. 3 in. deep (991 by 406 by 381 mm.) and weighs 100 lb. (45.4 kg.). In each unit, the front face con- sists of two bottom-hinged panels, set one above the other.
The top panel, fitted with all neces- sary control switches, an indicator light, a double-range volt-meter and monitor sockets for battery-unit vol- tage checks, drops down to give access to input and output terminals. The lower panel opens to reveal the four batteries on a rubber-covered tray which slides out smoothly on double- extension telescopic runners.
Cadet units are available for use with either maintained or non-main- tained secondary circuits. Maintained versions are of the floating-supply type, and non-maintained models in- clude a mercury-type contactor.
The makers are The Emergency Lighting Co., 62 Barnet Way, London, N.W. 7.
BATHROOM HEATER
Sources of heat and lighting in a bathroom are combined in the Rima High Light ceiling fitting. An infra-red

heater with wide-angle polished chro- mium plated triple reflectors surrounds 100W bulb and diffuser.
The heating element is of 750W. It has a pull-switch and a visible indi- cator giving a choice of heat, light or both.

PANELLING
A building panel in clear or colour- ed transluscent glass reinforced plastic is being produced by Adrian Marchant Ltd., Britannia Road, Surbiton, Sur- rey, UK, in strongly textured surface patterns which give an attractive dif- fused effect, enlivened by highlights and dense shadows.
Dramagem, as the material is called, is made in four patterns: Multi-facet,
Dramagem Multi-facet and Reed Reed, Cross Reed and Swirl. Multi- facet has a crinkled texture similar to crushed paper, while Reed consists of random incised lines on a cross-grain- textured surface. In Cross Reed the linear pattern on one face runs at 90 degrees to that on the opposite face giving a criss-cross effect. Swirl resem- bles the Reed pattern except that the lines run in spiral paths.
Standard panels measure 4 by 4.6 or 10ft. and 5 by 8ft. In the normal 1/8 in. thickness they weigh 9 oz. per sq. ft. The makers also offer a special decorative sheet, produced by laminat- ing a layer of metallic foil between two textured plastic faces.
IRON-TOPPED FLOOR
Iron aggregate and portland cement is the formula used in Anvil-Top, a new flooring meant for use in areas of traffic concentration. It is produced by Embecon Pty. Ltd., 25 Anderson Street, Chatswood, NSW, Australia, in a ready-to-use package to which only water is added at the job site.
The floor is quiet under traffic and can be used 24 to 28 hours after installation. At esven days the iron topping develops 11,000 p.s.i. com- pressive strength and more than 1,000 p.s.i. flexural strength.
The iron topping can be used over freshly placed concrete or over old

hardened concrete, provided the sur- face of the base slab is structurally sound. The high strengths enable the floor to withstand exceptional point loads and the shock of heavy impact.
