THIRD FLOOR

The third floor will form a kind of transitional stage between the shopping section of the building and the hotel proper. For this reason. although accessible by a single flight of stairs from the shopping level below, it will be kept a little separate from the remainder of the shopping area. Space will be provided for about half a dozen "prestige" shops

perhaps haut couture houses, a beauty salon, a jewellers, etc. These will be on either side of an open-air swimming pool which will also be flanked by a number of cabana

rooms.

Also on the third floor will be a small exhibition hall served by lifts direct from the ground floor. It is hoped that this will house displays of interest to visitors to Singapore staying in the hotel for example. exhibitions of local arts and crafts. new commercial products. etc.

In addition, the third floor will have a luxury suite with sitting room, bedroom. kitchen and private terrace and also a suite of offices, a number of staff rooms and the hotel laundry

UPPER FLOORS

The upper floors of the hotel will consist almost entirely of guest rooms. Altogether there will be a total of about 240 of these. Most rooms will provide a magnifi- cent view over the city and. im- mediately below, of the terraces and roof gardens on the lower floors.

Demolition of the existing build- ings on the site of Ming Court is now going on. and building work is ex pected to start as soon as official ap- proval for the submitted plans has been obtained. Construction should take about two years.

Of the two property companies financing the project, Town and City Properties Ltd. has an issued and paid-up capital of $20 million and Central Properties Ltd. an issued and paid-up capital of $30 million.
