DESIGNS FOR NEW GRANDSTAND & BUILDINGS FOR PERAK RACE- COURSE OPEN TO COMPETITION

is throwing open to competition the architectural designs for its pro posed M$5.5 million grandstand and ancillary buildings.
The competition is open to qualifi ed architects resident in the British Commonwealth at the time of apply ing for the conditions of the com petition.
The first prize winning design will get a cash award of MS34.280. the second MS17.110 and the third M$8.570.
The appointed architect will be paid in accordance with the Scale of Professional Charges, sanctioned and published by the Federation of Malaya Society of Architects and the competition premium he receives will be deemed to be payment on account towards the total fees pay- able.
Mr. W.I. Shiplay. A.R.I.B.A.. and Mr. G.A. Geeraerts. A.R.I.B.A.. both of Kuala Lumpur, will adjudicate on the designs submitted and make the award.
The chairman of the Perak Turf Club, Mr. Yeoh Cheang Lee, who has
been actively connected with Malayan racing for many years. said that the new project will be "a monument to Malaysia".
"The completed grandstand will not be the largest in the world but it would be second to none in design." he said.
Detailed designs should be sent to the Secretary. Perak Turf Club, P.O, Box No. 183. Ipoh, Perak. Malaysia. and endorsed "design for new grandstand" not later than 12 noon on July 21. 1964.
A complete set of detailed condi- tions of the competition, neatly bound in bookform. together with site plans and aerial photographs of the existing grandstand and other information regarding climatic con- ditions, sewerage, power and tele- communications relating to the pro- ject, can be obtained on application to the promoters on payment of a deposit of M$43 which is returnable after the publication of the assessors
award.
