the new building.

In order to satisfy the requirements of the growing tourist traffic, more first-class hotel accommodation will have to be provided. The new Astor Hotel, now in course of erection, and expected to be completed by the end of the year, has been designed with that end in view. Situated at the corner of Carnarvon Road and Corn- wall Avenue, Kowloon, the hotel will be readily accessible to the principal shopping districts, theatres, and trans- portation centres.

It will be eleven storeys in height, the ground floor being reserved for a large hotel reception lobby, and a bar and grill room. There will also be space for a number of shops, and at

On the eleventh floor, there will be a roof garden dining room for the hotel, from which the diners can obtain a beautiful view of the harbour,

It is expected that the building, complete with piling and lifts, will cost about two million dollars, but furniture, fixtures and fittings, and central air-conditioning for the whole building will probably account for an additional one and a half million dollars.
