CAMILLE APARTMENTS, KOWLOON

The Camille Apartments occupy the corner site at the junction of Belfran Road and Knight Street in Kowloon, facing south. This recently completed building designed for the amenities of modern apartment living is one of the most sophisticated quarters in Kowloon. The exterior elevation derives its attractiveness from the large areas of window space and complete absence of ornate decoration. The emphasis on the main entrance and stairs tends to give the whole building dignity.

Pretentious neither in plan nor in elevation this apartment incorporates all the requirements of comfort- able living. The plan allows for maximum use of space with a minimum of waste circulation.

All six apartments are designed exactly alike for economy although the general colour scheme in each is different.

Features incorporated in the Apartments:-

Each apartment is provided with a letterbox in chromium and lacquer red on the main entrance lobby. The main staircase is laid in black and white terrazzo. Black terrazzo facing with chromium letters "Camille Apartments" give the main entrance dignity.

Fireplaces in Shanghai plaster and terrazzo.

The hall of each apartment is provided with a closet for coats and hats with its hangers and shelves and umbrella stand.

The level of the hall floor is lower than the rest of the rooms and is provided with a concealed ceiling light.

All bedrooms face south and east or west. Studio or extra room is provided with closet for concealed day-bed.

Each apartment consists of five rooms, i.e. Living and Dining Rooms, two Bedrooms and two Baths, a Studio or Extra Bedroom, Pantry, Kitchen, Store Room, two Servants' Quarters, and Servants' Bath and W.C.

Closets and cupboards are insulated in corkboards to protect contents against mildew, etc.

Teakwood parquet floors, 9" x 9" squares.
