staircases to the flats and first floor

This six-storey building houses rooms face the sea. Generating Station offices and staff On the ground floor there is garag offices. Grinding and burning coal quarters and forms part of the Hong- ing for 16 cars, a porte-cochere for and testing samples is also carried kong Electric Co., Ltd's programme visiting V.I.P.s, lift hall and separate out in a first floor laboratory, for the New North Point Power

Station.

The site fronts the sea and is a 188- feet-wide strip of the old Government stores. This strip was acquired by the Company from Government partly for cash and partly in consideration of the Company agreeing to allow the exten- sion of Electric Road from west to east across the Power Station site to join Java Road. Demolition of the existing buildings and deep piling was involved but despite this the building was completed for occupation by Christmas 1957 although the design was only commissioned in February the same year.

To the south the building is backed by a new (three-storey) stores building designed and constructed by George Wimpey & Co., Ltd., and 'now near- ing completion. North Point House was therefore planned with servants' rooms and subsidiary rooms to the south and the laundry and dining- room balconies, which are also to the south, screened by lattice work. Main
