THE new M$1.2 million Central Market which is now rising at Jalan Ah Fook, Johore Bahru, is, in the words of the Mentri Besar of Johore. Dato Haji Hassan bin Haji Yunos, "in line with the town's growth."

The new market when completed by the end of this year will replace the Jalan Segget Market which has been is use for over 50 years.

When Dato Haji Hassan laid the foundation stone for the new mar- ket recently he said it was in line

with the State's second five-year velopment plan and would ke pace with Johore Bahru's increa ing population.

The market is situated just be hind the Johore Bus Terminal. far from the Johore Bahru railu station, and will rise between Jali Ah Fook and Jalan Campbell.

Pile-driving work now is in p gress. This contract for 220 pils is being executed by Messrs. Gam mon (Malaya) Ltd. at a cost $142,490.
