York, are marketing a new rammer- type tamper called the Stow Stomper. Weighing only 160 lb., it is designed for earth compaction in confined areas such as next to walls and abutments as well as in narrow trenches.

This model TR 671A, due to both

vibration and ver- tical shock, hits with the same com- paction force as a 6 to 8 ton roller, at the rate of 550 to 750 blows per minute.

A simple pulley and belt drive elim- inates gear boxes. The unit is power- ed by a two-cycle. 3 h.p. petrol en- gine and has a large automative type shock absor- her mounted on its handle to mini- mise shock to the operator.

EXCAVATOR

Sealed Crawler Base for Rough Terrain

A

TRACTOR-TYPE crawler designed for long distance travel over all types of terrain is a feature of a new 14 yd. excavator. the LS-4500, developed by Link-Belt Speeder (Division of FMC Corp.), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA.

The machine has a high ground clearance of 22in. and a flat underbody. Automatic spring applied digging brakes hold it steady on any gradient.

The upper unit has an all-welded stress-relieved frame. Beck gears are enclosed and run in oil and two-shoe clutches control the hydraulically powered swing and travel functions.

Other features of the upper unit include: vane-type pumps and motor; two-speed hoisting and controlled lowering: independent swing and travel: level-bottom digging depth at 21ft 2in.; and clear dumping height of 15ft. 9in.

PLASTERING MACHINES

Mobile Plaster Pumps Provide High Output

THREE high output mobile pumps for plastering and mortar rendering have been introduced from Germany.

All three machines employ a single- cylinder piston pump fitted with a safety valve and incorporating water

The pump is connected to a large pressure pot, fitted with a recirculating valve, to ensure a constant flow of

A small 8 c.f.m. plaster or mortar.
