NEBLE CENTRE

Originally built in 1963 under a British Colonial Development and Welfare grant, the Sandakan Centre was ex- tended in 1963 in accordance with plans prepared by the architect's branch of the Public Works Department, Mr. L. Jackson, B. Eng., M.I.C.E., M.I.W.E., Director of Public Works. The ex- tension which is to the left of the picture, was required to house a unit of the Tuberculorsis Control Staff of the North Borneo (Sabah) Medical Department. The extension, see plan on right, was constructed by the Metropolitan Construction Co. of Jesselton, Sabah. Cost of the com- plete extension with furnishings etc. was M$34,000.
