tion will be made by the urban

services.

In shape Continental Mansion is like an exaggerated letter H, the lift and staircase tower and some of the smaller flats occuping the crossbar. This shape has enabled the architect to fit into the design the maximum number of corner flats.

The site was very rocky and over a year was occupied in excavating and preparing it for the erection of the building. It had the advantage that as the rock was so near the sur- face piling was not necessary and the tall block rests directly on the underlying rock stratum.

Total building cost, excluding cost of the site, but including lifts, is content of the building is 3,077,917 subic feet, giving a cubic cost of approximately $2.50 a cubic foot.
