elaborate sculpture and decoration of ancient cathedrals, achieves a com- parable effect by an economical use of space.

At the same time this porch provides shade to the west- ern exposure of the building.

The three arches are symbolic of the Trinity, and a decorative screen in copper, analagous to the great wheel windows of ancient cathedrals, is placed in the centre.

A lower canopy for the shelter of people arriving on rainy days is cantilevered over the drive way, The solid walls of the entrance eleva- tion give emphasis to the solemnity of the interior. They also cut out road noises.

All cross-ventilation and openings are on the two sides away from the road.
