Situated on the corner of Nathan Road and Argyle Street, Kowloon, this theatre, being built at a cost of about $750,000.00 for the owners, the Henry G. Leong Estate, will prove a very striking addition to the appearance of Nathan Road which, more and more, is beginning to resemble the main thoroughfare of the cosmopolitan city which Kow- loon is now becoming.

Built on Franki piles, the building will be of reinforced concrete framing panelled with brick, with terrazzo facing to

BROADWAY THEATRE the ground floor, and white cement Shanghai plastering above.

With the exception of the main entrance to the theatre, the whole of the ground floor frontage on Argyle Street will be devoted to shops, whilst the ground floor frontage and first floor on Nathan Road will be leased to the Dairy Farm, Ice & Cold Storage Co., Ltd., who are installing a restaurant and soda fountain on the first floor with their provision shop below.

The street frontage on the second floor will be divided into offices. The theatre itself will seat about 1100 people and will be completely air-conditioned with a York Shipley system installed by Jardine Engineering Corp., Ltd.

The illustration shows the architect's conception of the completed building, as well as the Kowloon Branch of the Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation immediately adjacent to the theatre building, the architects Messrs. Chau & Lee being responsible for both structures.
