TH HE opening by the Governor, Sir Robert Black, of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital School of Nurs- ing at King's Park, Kowloon. last month marked the completion of the first part of the HK$60 million Queen Elizabeth Hospital programme. Work on this section. which cost approximately HK$6 million, began in February 1959.

The buildings opened by the Governor comprise the Sisters' quar-

ters block. the Nurses Training School linking the Sisters' quarters block with

with the Nurses' quarters block, and the domestic staff block.

Work on the basement of the hospital will probably be completed by the end of 1960 and it is expected that the main hospital building will be completed in the middle of 1963.

The Sisters Quarters Block is of I storeys. The ground floor con-

tains the communal dining room. citting room. kitchen and servery. pantry, store rooms, offices and guest rooms. The remaining floors contain the quarters for Sisters, with communal locker rooms, lava- tories and bathrooms, and also for the senior Sisters.

The 11th floor has eight special bed-sitting rooms, each with a large verandah. These are for use by Sisters on night duty, who have
