A very ambitious project involving the erection of a 17-storeyed block. claimed to be the highest apartment building in Hong Kong, on IL. 29 Sec. U. at the corner of Hysan Avenue and Leighton Road is now under way, the piling work having been completed and the foundations started. This building. which will be at the west end of Hysan Avenue alongside Embassy Court, Sunning House and Tower Court, has been designed by Mr. C. T. Wong and maintains the high standard of de- sign set by these latter buildings. According to the perspective drawing released by the architect, the ap- pearance of the building will be truly worthy of its place in the neighbour- hood.
It is the intention of the owners, The National Investment Co. Ltd., to provide shops of various sizes on the ground floor office space on the first and second floors which can be divided into areas to suit prospective tenants, and above the third floor. apartments varying in size from single room studios to apartments containing three bedrooms.
The promoters propose to sell the various types of accommodation. and in the case of the residential section they claim that the prices will be cheaper per square foot than that of Chinese tenements of equivalent area.
