All responsible architects are, or should be, thoroughly acquainted with the scale of fees chargeable in all circums- tances, and this scale of charges and the conditions of en- gagement should be brought to the notice of Clients right at the outset so that there is a clear understanding between them.
The graph given below represents the scale of profes- sional charges in pounds Sterling and in Hong Kong Dollars and shows at a glance the amount of fees chargeable in respect to the value of the work to be done. In addition, we give an analysis of the scale of R.I.B.A. fees based on the total fee of 10%, and may be considered as a rough sum- mary to illustrate the division of the Architect's fees into the various forms which comprise the Architect's services. This analysis is not official, but may prove a guide for both Architects and clients in assessing the value of the work to be done.
