Cover: Detail of the north-west corner of the new AlA Building, Hong Kong. The 350 ft. high building, with five floors of parking and garage space and 22 floors of offices, is unique in Hong Kong. It is the colony's first column-free prestressed mul- ti-storey structure. Floors comprise pres- tressed diagrid slabs, spanning between a slipformed core and the perimeter struc- tural mullions. The glass facade of the building is set back 1 ft. from the mullions to give sun shading and an unusual eleva- tional treatment. Palmer & Turner are the architects.
