THE MORRISON MEMORIAL CENTRE. KOWLOON
Architect:
T HE happy blend of functionalism
and aestheticism to be found in other churches this architect has already designed in Hong Kong, is again evident in a multi-purpose building erected to his design in Kowloon,
The impressive structure houses the Chinese Presbyterian Church, the Hip Woh School and a Church Activity Centre which is a memorial to Robert Morrison, the first Protes- tant missionary from England to China and the man who first trans- lated the bible into Chinese. Morri- son came to China 153 years ago from the London Missionary Society.

The memorial centre serves headquarters for the owners of the whole building, the Hong Kong District Association of the Church of Christ in China.
Although the three buildings are attached, each functions independent- ly. Yet externally they blend pleas ingly into an overall design.
The concrete structure is in three storeys, over a covered playground.
The site level is 30 feet above Prince Edward Road. On the upper floor there are classrooms and offices. The church is on the first floor level and a basement-like hall fronts Prince Edward Road.
