On the roof are the hot and cold water supply tanks, the flush water tanks, and a large covered area for the purpose of drying laundry.
This is a reinforced concrete_frame structure with brick walls. Expan- sion joints are used to separate the building blocks longer than 100 ft.
Floors in offices and living quarters are either of asphalt tile or teak blocks. Bathrooms and kitchen floors In the quarters are of red domino mosaic tiles. Most of the remaining floors are finished in granolithic.
The design called for a great deal of research and thoughtful planning
and the splendid results achieved in the construction of this station are largely due to the close co-operation between the Officers of the Fire Brigade and the technical staff of the P.W.D. The Architectural Office of the Public Works Department was responsible for the design under the general supervision of Mr. A. M. J. Wright, the Chief Architect.
