from the upper floors, two of which enter directly into the appliance room, while the third is just outside the appliance room in a corner of the recreation room terrace.

The large drill yard is divided into two sections by a smooth concrete standing to be used for hose cleaning. The southern part of the yard is laid out as a basketball court with port- able stands, while in the northern part thers are petrol and of pumps and a 68-ft. high drill and hose tower outside the hose store; the front por- tion of the tower is for drilling and the rear portion is to be used for drying hoses. To this part of the yard, there is a separate vehicle en- trance from Sycamore Street.

The first floor contains a mess room, a dormitory for 60 men. sub- officers' recreation room, two station officers' and one senior officer's flats.

The second floor contains two senior officers' and five sub-officers' flats. The third floor extends only over the east block and contains two senior officers' and one sub-officer's flats.

The six sub-officers' flats are gen- erally similar in design and include a hall, living room, one large and one small bedroom, a. bathroom and a kitchen. Two of these flats slightly larger than the others.

The two station officers' flats are larger than those of the sub-officers, and also include a servant's room; the two flats are slightly different in layout, one of them having a balcony opening from the living room, and the other having a small box-room, a drying closet and а cupboard opening off the hall.

The five senior officers' flats are

In the opposite corner to the canteen. there is a cabinet containing a Kwan Tal shrine with a terrazzo surround. Four sets of doors open from the re- creation room to a terrace which overlooks the basketball court. This entrance serves two more staircases to the upper floors, one of which is for the use of servants.

Also on the ground floor are various stores, a laundry and drying room, garage for five vehicles, a me- chanic's flat, and well-equipped workshops, so that the whole of the
