THE sunken bath and 24 ct. gold plated taps in the master bedroom of Mr. Run Run Shaw's new house at Clearwater Bay, New Territories, are symbols of luxury living which one would expect to find in the home of Hong Kong's leading movie magnate.
But to conclude from this that Mr. Shaw is a flamboyant extrovert would be quite wrong. Though he owns several residences in the colony, he himself lives comparatively modestly and is a too practical man to bother with material extravagances.
The film world however demands that he must entertain his guests quite lavishly, and so his new home has been built primarily for just that. But a closer study reveals the owner's prac- tical character. The swimming pool for example may be used for underwater filming, and the project includes a cinema and a scenery storage area.
The site is situated at the far end of Shaw's studio compound at Clearwater Bay and commands a panoramic view
