PAN MIXER

Mobile Unit Produces Low Slump Concrete

A MOBILE pan-type mixer with a hydraulically controlled loading scoop is being made by Bennett En- ginnering Pty. Ltd., 1 Unley Road, Parkside, South Australia.

Force mixing with strict water control by means of an electronic

Bennett pan-type mixer water system produces low-slump concrete that meets American and British Standards.

Units,

mounted оп pneumatic tyres for towing, are available in 7, 10, 14, 18, and 21 cu. ft. capacity with diesel, petrol and electric

power.

William Jacks, Ltd., Hong Kong and Singapore, are the agents for Bennett.

COMPACTOR

Six Vibrating Shoes Individually Driven

COMPACTION capacities of 250 cu.yd. to 800 cu.yd. an hour can be achiev- ed with the Vibro-Tamper Model VT6-4, a new crawler-driven road compactor made by International Vibration Co., Cleveland, Ohio, and exported through George Reinhardt, Inc., 21 West Street, New York.

A blow of over 10,000 lb. is directed into the material by each of six tamper shoes and vibration is isolated from the machine by heavy duty rubber dampers.

The vibrating shoes are individual- ly driven which permits one or any combination of shoes to be used for various widths of base materials or other off-standard jobs. Two relief valves are used 10 protect the hydraulic system transmitting power to the crawlers and the lifting hoist for raising and lowering the shoes.

A selection of eight forward and eight reverse speeds, all controlled by one lever, makes possible a wide adaptation of the machine to all materials and conditions. The shoes

are

attached to the carrier semi- rigidly so that any normal crown or slope in the base material is not disturbed by the use of the machine.

The unit measures 8 ft. long by 12 ft. wide by 6 ft. high. It travels at 16 to 180 ft, a minute.

Reinhardt's distributors include: Jardine Waugh (Malaya) Ltd., Singapore and Kuala Lumpur: Jardine Waugh, Ltd., Bangkok; and Lilestone and Co., Inc., Manila.

BULLDOZER

Hydraulically Assisted Clutch and Steering

THE marketing of a new bulldozer, the CD8C with a horsepower of 160, has been announced by French company, Etablissements Richard, 10 Rue du Perou, Villeurbanne. The company are in the process of es- tablishing agents in South East Asia.

Superseding the previous model CD8, the new machine has a great- er track area, obtained by increas- ing the adhesion length by nearly 10

per cent with an additional lower roller on each side.

gear

Maximum torque r.p.m. is low in the r.p.m. range so that greater tor- que can be provided around this figure. The machine therefore has a high power reserve which enables it to take obstacles without changing. Slowing down causes a torque corrector incorporated in the engine to increase the available force. The leakproof rollers have metal- to-metal friction surface seals on very hard

tracks, and steel track links are

chrome-molybdenum

steel.

LOADER-TRENCHER

Three Working Cycles

per Minute

ANY medium power tractor that has a three-point linkage and a power- take-off shaft can be used as the mounting for a loader-trencher in- troduced by Ernest A. Webb, Ltd., Exning, Suffolk, UK. Called the Webb 360, it has a 360-degree slew. The hydraulic system is indepen- dent and the oil reservoir, pump, rams, filters and valve bank are all part of the main body of the machine. There are no hoses in the hydraulic power system for slewing.

By raising the tractors rear wheels off the ground, the tractor's weight is used to give the machine stability. The weight is taken on the machine's legs, which can be adjusted manual- ly or hydraulically for uneven ground.

With the standard boom at full reach, up to 9 cwt. can be lifted, and the normal rate of work allows

Webb 360 fitted with ditching bucket

for three complete working cycles (through 90 degrees) to be carried out per minute.

In ditching, for which a 4 ft. boom extension is normally used, maximum reach is 18 ft. 9 in. from the pivot post, giving a maximum digging reach of 12 ft. 6 in.

Howard Rotavator (Far East) Ltd., Kuala Lumpur, handle Webb machines in Malaysia, but the makers have no commercial arrange- ments yet in other South East Asia countries.
