be- longings. A soap sinking is formed by raised and slightly radiused should- ers, set at right angles and high en- ough to prevent soap from sliding off.
Of particular interest is the method of fixing the washbasin. Specially designed pockets in the back of the bowl slide over the two cast iron brackets and additional rigidity is en- sured by a concealed angle support which bolts into the underside of the basin.
The illustration shows the wash- basin equipped with Twyfords No. 203 mixer fitting with elbow-motion lever handles, but it can be supplied without tap punchings for use with wall-mounted fittings.

FAN
Adjustable Blades Vary Airflow Performance
DESIGNED to collect and disperse fumes and waste gases at temperatures up to 750 deg. F., the Biflow single- stage, axial-flow, bifurcated fan is in- stalled in a line of ducting, with the motor outside the airstream. It is fitted with blades whose pitch can be altered by unbolting and manually ad- justing the blade setting.
Fan blades are available in three sizes, 15 in.. 19 in. and 24 in., with capacities from 400 to 9,500 c.f.m. Those used at working temperatures up to 400 deg. F. are made from aerofoil-sectioned LM4M aluminium; steel is used for high-temperature working.

Biflow axial-flow fan
A continuously-rated, totally-enclos- ed squirrel-cage motor rated at 380/ 440 v.. three-phase, 50 c/s a.c., drives the fan direct via a boss-bored, key- wayed shaft at a speed of either 1,450 or 2,900 r.p.m. Motor bearings are pre-packed with grease and require maintenance at approximately six- monthly intervals.
The whole unit fits into a welded, steel casing of rectangular cross- section, finished inside and out in
aluminium high-temperature
paint, with drilled flanges fitted to either end. Length between flanges with 15 in. fan is 2 ft. 5% in.. with 19 in. fan 2 ft. 10% in., with 24 in. fan 3 ft. 63⁄44 in. Airflow sections measure, respectively: 1 ft. 3 in. by 1 ft. 7-1/16 in.; 1 ft. 74 in. by 2 ft. 4 in; and 2 ft. 4 in. by 2 ft. 6-7/16 in.

FIRE ALARM
Manual Warning Works Off Mains or Low Voltage
OPERATED either by a.c. mains power supply or a stand-by low- voltage system using lead-acid ac- cumulators, Fireman alarm equip- ment consists of а call-point of break-glass type, an indicator panel and an audible or visible alarm, ac-

tuated manually to alert either part or the whole of a building.
Installed in boxes 3-1/16 in. high by 3-1/16 in. wide by 24 in. deep, call-points are normally distributed in pairs, with from one to six pairs per zone. The system is claimed to be flexible in operation, for each pair can either serve its own indicator panel or be linked to a more com- prehensive scheme.
Panels are equipped with twin-fila- ment lamps which flash when the alarm is given, and push-button switches which can be used to alert other parts of the building. Under- dome bells with 6, 8 or 10 in. gongs can be fitted to the audible alarm sys- tem; sirens or hooters may be install- ed in noisy conditions, or a buzzer and flashing lamp used as a primary warning in areas where a general alarm might cause panic.

NEW recessed fittings by Crompton Parkinson Ltd., Aldwych, London, W.C.2. include an 8 ft. x 2 ft. model besides the exist- ing 2 ft., 4 ft. and 6 ft. lengths. These fittings can now be accommodated in a shallower recess depth of 4% in.
Easily detachable gear trays are a feature of the range which

means
that the weight of the fitting is reduc ed for installation purposes and the number of lamps can easily be re- arranged, if necessary.
A variety of trim frames is avail- able, comprising "Draw-up", "Lay-in". overlap and ventilated types. The 6 ft. and 4 ft. models will accept air diffusers of the "side-saddle" type. Diffusers are of two kinds opal plastic dish and prismatic
and may be hinged from either side for easy maintenance.
The simple fixing is by means of patent retractable bearers or electrical conduit or steel rod. Any of these methods permits vertical and hori zontal adjustment.

INDUSTRIAL FLOOR
Oil Proof and Laid Only in. Thick
CONCRYL, a new flooring material may be laid over the old floor 1⁄2 in. thick to give a smooth hard wearing surface which is both resistant to oil and point loads.
The product should be of consider- able value in renovating old factories and for overlaying site concrete where the thickness must be kept to a minimum. Polyemers form the basis of the material, which is non toxic and non inflammable.
Application is simple and is only a little different from the laying of or dinary sand and cement screeds. Con- cryl is mixed on site with sand, ce- ment and granite chips and applied by trowel.
