the lowest portion of the site. The main entrance plaza is at fifth floor level which is the same elevation as the mid-level of the site. In this way site formation and vertical circulation is reduced to a minimum. At the same time the plaza is extended over the fifth floor level of the building to create a large children's playground
an unusual feature in areas which alloweds only high rise development. Parking space is also provided at the same level.
The administration office, multi- purpose room, cafeteria and covered play area are located around the plaza. Three floors above this level are assigned for high school and two floors below are for primary school classrooms.
Noisy elements such as music room and gymnasium are separated at the lowest second floor, and the bottom floor is for parking, mechanical plant. custodian and service area. A staff room is provided at each classroom floor.
A full air-conditioning system per- mits classroom to be designed on both sides of the corridors, and of neces- sity for which also an economic de- sign for operating the air condition- ing.
All classrooms are face north and are shielded from sun and glare by a 5 ft. canopy.
Laboratories and the library are on the other side of the corridor facing south and also have a protecting canopy.
The grouping of lecture and labora- tory facilities provides flexibility to cope with future changes both in teaching method. and teaching aids. such as visual-audio or laboratory equipment.
Finishes
The exterior finishes of the school building are predominately white ex- posed aggregate with dark aggregate on the spandrels to emphasize the horizontal expression of the canopy. Architectural concrete is used for ex- posed columns and gymnasium floor walls. Fair face bricks are used for the fence wall and as paving dividers to add warmth to the building as a whole.
Although the church is primarily for the Lutheran faith service, it may also be shared by the school when re- quired. The church is located at the highest part of the site and on top of the covered play area. It is connect- ed to the first floor of the school by a corridor overlooking the entrance plaza to form an integral part of the building complex.
A tall symbolic bell tower rising to 145 ft. at the side of the church spatially links the school, plaza and church together and becomes the focal point of the design,
The steep sloping church roof creates an interesting interior space and gives the plaza playground a more intimate scale and a sense of enclosure. Natural lighting has been carefully utilised to create a religi- ous aura conducive to contemplation
