This six-storey parking structure for 680 cars, with a helicopter landing area on the roof, was constructed as part of a master planning programme. It had to adhere to the environmental character desired for the hospital com- plex. A cast-in-place post-tensioned grid slab system is employed, with a 24 ft. cantilevered ramp at one end.
The jury commented, "The exterior design shows remarkable simplicity in creating a parking structure of unusual attractiveness. It makes a happy event of the inevitable transition of parking levels through use of a stair tower as the unifying break point."
