The estimate for Private Schools shows an increase of $1,250,000, the greater part of which relates to a larger number of teachers qualified for assistance and normal expansion in the number of assisted places in secondary schools.
The increase in subvention for the Chinese University of Hong Kong takes account of the increased enrolment of the University to 1875 undergraduates.
A new item for Special Committee on Higher Education was approved by supplementary during the year, and provision is included for further survey expenses.
