The additional posts listed above are required generally to meet the increase in work in the various sections of the Department. On certain particular posts:

Architectural Office

The post of Government Architect is the result of change in nomenclature and replaces a post of Assistant Director of Public Works. The additional post of Assistant Government Architect has been created to assist the Government Architect in the general administration of this office. In view of the ever increasing commitments of the Maintenance Section, the additional post of Chief Maintenance Surveyor, which is offset by the reduction of one post of Senior Architect, is required to administer the section. The new posts of Maintenance Surveyor/Assistant Maintenance Surveyor replace the posts of Building Surveyor/ Assistant Building Surveyor and are to assist the Chief Maintenance Surveyor in the general administration of the Maintenance Section.

Buildings Ordinance Office

The post of Government Building Surveyor is the result of change in nomenclature and replaces a post of Assistant Director of Public Works. The additional post of Chief Building Surveyor, which is offset by the reduction of one post of Senior Building Surveyor, is provided to head the Dangerous Buildings Unit of this office.
