The additional posts listed above are generally required to deal with the increase in the volume of work in the Department. The new posts of Photographer and Assistant Photographer have been provided as a result of the introduction of microfilming and reproducing equipment in certain registries.
Under Other Charges Annually Recurrent, the increased provision under Stores and equipment
is for the purchase of microfilming and photographic materials.
Under Special Expenditure, provision for $121,800 is included for the purchase of microfilming equipment for use in the Land Office and in the Trade Marks Registry. This equipment will effect an ultimate economy in office accommodation, storage space and staff and will facilitate the preservation and security of valuable records.
